Yarl Geek’s Challenge is the biggest hackothon in Sri Lanka where the competition is open to all youth. The best and the brightest young minds will be invited to join hands to utilize technology, taking on some of the world’s toughest problems. While competing with their peers, participants will have the opportunity to work alongside industrial practitioners, gain valuable industrial experience, make new friends, expose their abilities to the global IT industry and transform their ideas into reality.

The competition comprised of 3 rounds. At the beginning of the first round, there were over 50 teams taking part, where is was shortlisted down to 20 teams by the end of first round. Only 6 teams were selected for the grand finale, and my team emerged runners up at this competition. It was not an easy task. We had to compete against some of the brilliant minds in Sri Lanka. Three days of endless working, team work and commitment brought helped us achieve our victory.

The Product: Find My Bus ( You are never lost)

“Find My Bus” is a GPS application which provides real time locations and the number of seats available in each bus travelling in Sri Lanka. The product uses minimal physical resource requirements but yet being a powerful and useful application in operation.
