HackADev 2015 - Impact Uva
2nd Runners Up

HackADev: Impact Uva 2015, is the biggest Social Innovation Hackathon. An initiative by the United Nations Development Programme in partnership with Dialog Ideamart. This year, HackADev will be aiming at some of the key issues that the UVA province od Sri Lanka is facing, with respect to tourism, entrepreneurship,natural disasters and attacks by wild animals. This will indeed make a big impact on the lives of people in the Uva Province.

The competition started with 90 teams taking part from various parts of the country, hoping to make an impact on the Uva Province. only 15 teams got selected for the next round, where they all were given only 24 hours to introduce a product that would indeed make a huge impact on Uva. This round was held at the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, and it was a tought and competitive competition. The sleepless hours, the struggles to achieve perfectness and the motivation of making this world a better place, we emerged 2nd runners up at this competition. 

 

Our product was viewed by many tech heads in the industry and they were all interested in the potential out product had. After a tough and exhausting competition we finally achieved our goal.

 

The Product: SaveMe ( You are safer with us)

 

"Save Me" is an IoT based application, that provides solutions to natural disasters happening in the Uva Province. The main focus was based on wild fires and land slides of the province, which was a disastrous issue that the people were facing. The product gives real time warnings and safety predictions on Natural disasters and wild fires in the area.
